About
Twenty-nine years of hands-on work has taught me one thing: your body holds stories, and it's looking for someone who knows how to listen with their hands.
I graduated from the Greater Washington Institute of Massage Therapy in Fairfax, Virginia, and I've spent nearly three decades refining what that education started. I began with Swedish and deep tissue work, then added Thai massage training, neuromuscular therapy, and acupressure techniques. Each one changed how I see the body — how muscles connect to joints, how tension in your glutes pulls at your lower back, how opening your hips through stretching can change everything.
My studio sits in Columbia, Maryland, just off the main stretch, with free parking right out front and a warm, private space designed for real work. I also travel — serving Columbia and surrounding areas within a 150-mile radius for mobile appointments, and I've worked with clients as far as Telluride, Colorado, and downtown Baltimore. Whether you come to me or I come to you, you get the same thing: strong hands, connective touch, and genuine attention to where you hurt.
I work head to toe. Your upper and lower back, glutes, legs, feet, hands, neck, abdomen, pecs, arms, and the major joints that control how you move. I use effleurage, petrissage, palm pressure, stretching, and deep tissue strokes — all while music plays and the table beneath you stays warm. If you want hot stone work added, I do that too.
I'm gay-friendly, and I welcome the LGBTQ+ community and allies. My clients include professional athletes, hotel guests, conventioneers, stressed lawyers, and everyday people who just need to feel good again. I text back quick. Same-day appointments are fine. If you're new to massage, we'll talk through what to expect. If you've been hurt and need relief, I know how to find it.

Testimonials
The touch was excellent. My lower back and legs felt restored after my first visit to Alan's Wheaton office, just two blocks from the metro. He mentioned his training at the Greater Washington Institute of Massage and his studies in Thai massage and acupressure. The space was warm with a heated table, soft lighting, and calming music. Starting face-down, he spent 30 minutes on my upper and lower back and added stretches for my arms and shoulders. His glute massage work was exceptional. He connected deep strokes across my legs, glutes, and lower back, then continued on my shoulders. The best moment was stretching on the table and pulling my upper body back — he explained his Thai training helps with that. After an hour face-down, he did soothing hand circles on my abdomen and chest. With trust in your therapist, you can relax even during arm and shoulder work. He explained how Thai massage moves energy from your toes through your entire body to your fingertips. Opening the joints improves blood flow and helps toxins leave your muscles. I felt the massage was excellent. The whole experience was smooth — I caught my uber and was back on the metro to DC in minutes. I'd recommend Alan highly.
Thank you for fitting me in last minute at your studio and giving me the best massage I've ever had. I traveled from Michigan. Life had me down — I'm in the area for a funeral. This is exactly what I needed. Your bodywork made me feel amazing. You have skilled hands and you know what you're doing. It felt wonderful to feel you release the knots in my neck and work deeply on my lower back. I really have to thank you for taking my mind off my troubles. You're both a wonderful person and a skilled massage therapist. You helped me manage my trip. Thank you for your gift of massage and your powerful touch. I really appreciate you.
I'm lucky to have found Alan. I live in Washington DC, and his Wheaton location was easy to reach with great parking. His office is a beautiful room in his home with a shower afterward. Alan is a talented therapist with the most connective massage I've had. I really needed deep work on my lower back. He knows how to work my lower back, glutes, and legs together, spending a lot of time on them. I've not met a more charming massage therapist. He did excellent stretches that opened my back. I'd definitely recommend him. His 90-minute session is worth every penny. I'll visit him again soon.
Thanks Alan. I loved your massage. You're really skilled. You gave me major relief in my lower back and helped me relax deeply. Your office is very professional and you clearly love your work. Thanks for making my day and taking my appointment last minute. I'll definitely be back.
Alan impressed me. He has strong hands and skill with his elbows, palms, and forearms. This was my first time at his Columbia office, though I'd seen him at his Silver Spring location. The office is professional. Alan is charming and skilled. His massage included long strong strokes. He focused the first half on my neck, shoulders, buttocks, and legs. At one point he got on the table and used his body weight for strong pressure on my glutes, back, and upper back. He finished that half with long strokes from my ankles across my whole body to my neck and hands. The background music was beautiful piano with nature sounds. I liked it very much. Face-up, he did excellent work on my chest, abdomen, arms, and hands. He finished with leg stretches to my chest and opened my legs above my head. He explained that opening tight legs gives lower back relief. When I got home, I texted him. My back has never felt better. I recommend Alan to anyone in the Washington DC and Baltimore area. Schedule him in Columbia or visit his Silver Spring office. I can't recall a better massage.
I met Alan at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Baltimore for a late 10 p.m. appointment on my anniversary trip. His office is in Columbia, only 15 minutes away. I've never had such strong and powerful massage work. His Thai training allowed him to do stretches that really opened my joints. He connected my neck tension to my shoulders. Toward the end, he had me sit up and stretched my arms wide, then had me lock my fingers behind my head to stretch my pecs. His skill level is rare. He started me face-forward and worked my neck, back, shoulders, arms, hands, buttocks, legs, and feet. He then flipped me and worked my chest, arms, shoulders, abdomen, legs, and did strong stretches with my knees to my chest. The draping was spa-quality throughout. His skill level was exceptional. He mentioned borrowing moves from other massage therapists over his career. I left feeling stretched, relaxed, and happy.
I had the chance to experience Alan's massage work, and it surpassed what I was expecting. I asked for deep tissue focused on upper and lower back, especially glutes and legs. Alan was skilled and attentive, asking about my needs and tense areas. He used grapeseed oil for deep work without pulling hair or slipping. The eucalyptus essential oil in the oil gave both physical and aromatic benefits. Throughout, he checked in about pressure, which I appreciated. After the session, I felt deep relief and relaxation. My muscles were less tense, and I had more energy. In the following days, I noticed better flexibility and much less muscle soreness. My time at Alan's Columbia office was outstanding. The location, easy parking, strong massage, and warm, clean space made it excellent for anyone wanting relaxation or muscle work. I'll be back and recommend Alan to anyone needing serious muscle work with strong touch.
Alan is excellent. I'd never had a massage before. He explained his techniques and how he handles draping and modesty. The pressure was strong and his method was incredibly connective. Ten minutes in, I dozed off, but I felt safe and felt amazing. His studio is a private separate space from his home. The setup was professional and he was an excellent, experienced massage professional. I recommend him to anyone wanting a real massage focused on back, buttocks, and legs. He's a true expert.
I'm grateful. Alan has skilled hands and strong techniques. I had lower back pain and sciatica issues, and his deep muscle work was expert-level. He worked on my lower and upper back, and when I mentioned my leg and lower back pain, he spent about 30 minutes on that area, including my glutes and legs. He mentioned training in both Thai and Swedish massage. He opened my legs in different angles so he could go deeper into the muscle insertions, using his forearm and elbow on my glute muscles. I didn't realize my back pain was coming from below my waistline. Alan explained that tight hamstrings and glutes pull your pelvis down, causing lower back pain. After I left, my back felt like it did when I was 25. I texted to thank him. I recommend Alan. He's a trained professional with real knowledge and skill.
Alan came to my hotel suite and set up his table. My lower back and glutes were causing serious problems. I'd just flown in from California. Alan set up his music and made me feel comfortable. His touch was strong and deep on my back, buttocks, and legs. I've not had such a connective massage. This two-hour session put me in a relaxed, soothing state. I remember stretches where I brought my knees to my chest, which really opened my back. At the end he showed me moves to open my neck and back. I left feeling I got my money's worth. Great therapist. I'll always call him when I'm in town.
Thank you Alan. I had a wonderful massage. Very relaxing and grounding. I was comfortable from start to finish — you were perfect. The space is safe, clean, and peaceful. You were extremely polite, calm, and professional. Thank you for such a great massage. I'll definitely return.
Your energy is great. I love how you glide effortlessly across my body. What oil is that? It's not slippery and my skin feels amazing afterward. It's grapeseed oil. Yes, it's great. I've had many massages in my life. I work out, run, and play volleyball. My legs are always tight and my glutes need attention. You seem to know exactly where to work them. I don't usually write long reviews, but you have an excellent touch. I enjoyed meeting you and I'll recommend you to my guys on my gay volleyball team in Washington DC. Love the new location.
My partner and I contacted Alan before he arrived in Telluride to book a session. He brought his massage face rest, oils, and speaker. Very professional. It started as a 90-minute session for just me, but Alan was generous and gave an hour for me and an hour for my partner at no extra cost. We've had massage work from therapists all over the world because we ski and travel internationally. We visit Telluride yearly. Alan is by far the best massage therapist we've ever had. He's strong and used deep tissue on my shoulders and neck. He used his elbow and forearm on my glutes and legs. The stretching he did with my legs was unlike anything we'd experienced. His final move of pushing my knees to my chest and having me lift my back repeatedly was excellent. He said it's all about stretching. He's a wonderful therapist. I hope to see him again if he visits our vacation area. Call Alan if he comes to your city. Trust me on this.
Hemasseur's Take
Across his client base, Alan stands out for his ability to identify and release lower back and glute tension that other therapists miss, often connecting it to tight hamstrings and hip muscles that pull the entire pelvis. Clients consistently report that his strong, connective touch combined with Thai stretching opens joints and leaves them feeling relief that lasts for days, with many describing it as the best massage they've ever experienced. His skill with his hands, elbows, forearms, and body weight, paired with his professional, welcoming demeanor and attention to comfort and draping, creates an experience that makes clients return repeatedly and recommend him across the DC, Maryland, and Baltimore region.
