About

Thirty-one years of work with clients' bodies teaches you something crucial: the right pressure, at the right moment, with real listening, changes everything. I started my training at Educating Hands and Finger Lakes School of Massage in Miami, Florida, finishing my certification in early 1998, and I've spent three decades refining what it means to work deeply without causing pain.

My approach starts with questions. On the day you come in, I'll ask about your history, your tight spots, what you're trying to solve. That conversation helps me choose whether you need light, connective work or deep tissue that gets into the stubborn layers. I blend a range of techniques—from Swedish and aromatherapy to Trager Integration, myofascial release, and hot stone—because every body is different, and every session should be.

I work both in my studio here in Albany and in your home, serving Albany and surrounding areas within a 10-mile radius. Either way, you get the same care: connective strokes that don't interrupt the flow, full attention from start to finish, and concrete suggestions for aftercare and corrective exercises so the work lasts. I also offer body scrubs, cupping, facials, fitness training, yoga instruction, and personal coaching—all designed to support what we're building together in the massage work.

Honestly, I ask that you show up as an adult ready to communicate. No back-and-forth messages before your session. Come in, let's talk, and I'll give you the best possible bodywork.

Hemasseur's Take

Clients consistently praise John's technical skill, particularly his ability to apply deep pressure without causing pain, and his attentiveness to breathing and individual needs throughout the session. His diagnostic questioning and specific aftercare advice—along with the calm, clean environment and his genuine care—stand out as reasons people return for years.

Many mention relief from specific problems: neck and lower back pain, trigger points, and joint inflammation that didn't fade after leaving. The combination of expertise, warm communication, and his willingness to customize pressure and technique keeps clients coming back and recommending him to others.

Do you offer mobile massage in Albany?

Yes, I provide mobile massage throughout Albany and surrounding areas within 10 miles. I bring a heated table, aromatherapy, candles, hot towels, and music to create the same calm, professional experience you'd have in my studio.

What techniques do you use for lower back pain?

I combine deep tissue, myofascial release, and corrective exercise guidance to address lower back tension. During your session, I'll also ask diagnostic questions and suggest specific aftercare and stretches so the relief lasts beyond the massage.

It depends on availability, but I'm open 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day. If you have an opening in your schedule, contact me directly and I'll do my best to fit you in—I've built my schedule to be flexible for clients who need urgent care.

What is Trager Integration massage?

Trager Integration is a gentle, connective technique that uses light touch and rhythmic movement to release tension and improve how your body moves. I blend it with other methods depending on what you need—it's especially helpful if you're sensitive to deep pressure or prefer a lighter approach.

What types of massage do you specialize in?

I work with Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, aromatherapy, Trager Integration, myofascial release, lymphatic drainage, craniosacral therapy, Lomi Lomi, reflexology, Reiki, and sports massage. I customize each session based on your body's needs and your preferences.

What should I expect in my first session?

I'll ask you questions about your history, any pain or tension, and what you want from the massage. Based on that conversation, I'll explain my approach and let you know what pressure and techniques I'll use. Throughout the session, I pay close attention to your breathing and how your body responds, and I'm always available to adjust pressure or technique.
