About

Nineteen years working with thousands of clients has taught me one clear thing: your body knows what it needs. I just have to listen.

I came into this work through coaching. Crossfit, bodybuilding, yoga—I spent years helping people move better, recover faster, understand their own strength. That background shaped everything I do now. When you're on my table in my San Francisco studio, you're not just getting a massage. You're getting someone who speaks the language of athletic bodies, tired muscles, and the kind of deep tension that doesn't quit.

My hands do most of the talking. I blend deep tissue work with shiatsu and sports massage techniques I've developed over more than a decade of focused practice. But here's what sets the work apart: I use my forearms, elbows, knees, and sometimes my full body weight to reach the places that need real pressure. It's intense. It works. And when you need something lighter, more intuitive, more electric—I can shift into that too.

I also weave in assisted stretching throughout sessions. That combination of deep compression and guided release hits your core areas where stress and pressure live. By the time you leave, you feel like jello.

Serving San Francisco and surrounding areas within a 25-mile radius, I work both in-studio and mobile. I'm also a certified yoga instructor and personal trainer, so if you want to layer fitness coaching or nutrition guidance into your recovery plan, that's on the table too. I'm proud to serve the LGBT community and everyone else looking for real, no-nonsense bodywork that actually changes how you feel.

Testimonials

This was my first session with Paxton and he was responsive and worked me into his busy evening schedule on short notice. He arrived on time at my home. From the moment we met, I could tell he was easygoing, friendly, and down to earth. Before we started, he asked where I was having trouble—my lower back was the main concern. During the massage he used a flowing combination of soft work, deep tissue, trigger point release, and stretching that all worked together perfectly. We had good conversation the whole time and I felt like I'd made a new friend. He was very intuitive and compassionate about my wellbeing. The next morning my lower back felt better than it had after any massage I'd had before. I'll definitely be calling him again soon. Thanks for the healing experience, Paxton.

After years of hesitating, I finally decided to get a massage and chose Coach Paxton. Great call. He responded quickly, we discussed what I needed (neck, shoulders, back), and he even texted a few hours before our appointment to confirm—impressive attention to detail. His studio was lit with candles and soft music playing. He put me immediately at ease with his relaxed manner, and he worked through my tension skillfully, varying pressure and checking in regularly. He used strong hands and solid technique, and an hour and a half into the two-hour session I'd completely lost track of time. It was the best gift I've given myself in years. Coach Paxton is professional, courteous, comforting, thorough, and genuinely a good person. Book with him and you'll feel better for it.

This man gave me one of the absolute best massages and stretching sessions I have ever experienced, and I've had plenty of good deep tissue and trigger point work done. He hit every single spot with perfect precision. He's a wonderful conversationalist, very professional, charming, and genuine. I've never written a review before, but he inspired me to. I cannot recommend him highly enough. If he's in your area, get in touch immediately. You will not be disappointed.

FAQ

How much does deep tissue massage cost in San Francisco?

Deep tissue massage in my San Francisco studio starts at $160 for a 60-minute session, which is below the city average. Ninety-minute sessions are $240, and two-hour sessions are $320. Mobile rates run higher due to travel: $190, $285, and $380 for the same timeframes.

Do you offer same-day appointments in San Francisco?

Yes, I do take same-day appointments when my schedule allows. I respond quickly to messages and can often fit clients in with short notice. Text or message me directly to check availability.

What's the difference between deep tissue and sports massage?

Deep tissue targets chronic muscle tension using sustained pressure and slow strokes. Sports massage focuses on athletic recovery, preventing injury, and improving performance—it's especially useful before or after training. I blend both techniques depending on your needs and history.

Is there a mobile massage therapist serving San Francisco?

Yes, I offer mobile massage throughout San Francisco and surrounding areas within a 25-mile radius. I bring everything needed for a full session at your home or office, including candles, music, and aromatherapy if you want it.

What should I expect during an assisted stretching session?

Assisted stretching is guided flexibility work woven into your massage. After warming up your muscles with deep work, I help you move through stretches that release pressure from your core areas. It's designed to deepen relaxation and improve your range of motion.

Can you work with athletes or people recovering from injury?

Absolutely. My background in coaching crossfit and bodybuilding means I understand athletic bodies and recovery. Clients often book me specifically for race recovery or injury rehab. I'm skilled at addressing problem areas and adjusting pressure and technique to support healing.

Do you offer anything beyond massage in San Francisco?

Yes. I'm a certified yoga instructor and personal trainer, so I offer yoga instruction, fitness training, personal coaching, and nutrition consulting. Many clients combine a massage session with yoga or fitness guidance for a complete recovery and strength plan.

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept cash and Venmo. Let me know which works best for you when you book.
