About
Training at the Louisville School of Massage taught me anatomy and kinesiology as the foundation, but working with clients over nearly five years in my own practice taught me something equally important: how to listen. I learned that the body tells you what it needs if you're paying attention—where the tension lives, what kind of pressure creates safety, when to ease back and when to go deeper.
I've been in hospitality and operations for over a decade before that, so I understood how to create a space where people actually feel comfortable enough to relax. That matters more than people realize. When you walk into my studio in Phoenix, you're not stepping into a clinical room. You're stepping into a place designed for recovery—candles, soft music, a clean private space with its own restroom, free parking outside. The warmth of the table, the quiet, the care in how I move—it all works together.
I work with several techniques depending on what your body needs right now. Swedish massage for relaxation and circulation. Deep tissue and sports massage when you've got targeted muscle tension that needs real attention. Trigger point work to release those stubborn knots. CranioSacral Therapy for nervous system regulation. Assisted stretching to help you move more freely. Cupping therapy to support recovery and blood flow. Each session is built around what you bring in the door.
My background in physical therapy studies gives me the anatomical knowledge to work safely and effectively with chronic tension, old injuries, and the strain of daily life. Whether you're recovering from physical work, managing ongoing pain, or just need time to reconnect with your body, I'm here to help you feel better.
I'm based in Phoenix and serve clients throughout the community. I'm proud to work with and support members of the LGBTQ+ community, and I strive to create a respectful and welcoming environment for every person who comes in.

Testimonials
I recently scheduled a massage with Mark. His studio is conveniently located and very professional. He is personable and welcoming. We reviewed my medical history and symptoms of osteoarthritis, and discussed my previous massage experiences with other therapists. Mark listened carefully and was genuinely interested in delivering the best therapeutic massage possible. He intuitively relieved some chronic muscle pain from poor conditioning. His hands are strong and he worked my muscles and connective tissues to release my tightness. I prefer deeper, strong massage work and he accommodated my requests perfectly. I would recommend Mark. He is a licensed massage therapist who provides excellent therapeutic massage.
Mark Thomas has magic in his hands. Very professional and worked out all the tension from travel and general stress. So glad we found each other. He delivered an excellent massage and I left feeling completely restored. I highly recommend him.
After nearly two years searching for someone who truly understands sciatica, I was shocked by how much relief I felt after just one session with Mark. He didn't simply go through the motions. Everything from the massage to the targeted stretching was intentional and effective. I've seen many therapists claim expertise with sciatica, but none approached it the way Mark did. The difference was huge. His studio space has wonderful energy—clean, calm, and comfortable without feeling forced. The professionalism was clear but never clinical or cold. I'm planning regular sessions and wanted to make sure he knew how much I appreciated his work and the genuine relief I experienced.
Finding a deep tissue or sports massage therapist in an unfamiliar city is always a gamble. My luck improved dramatically when I found Mark. He's responsive, professional, and applies exactly the right amount of pressure to resolve tightness from workouts and daily stress. I'm looking forward to my next appointment.
I get a monthly massage to release work stress, gym tension, and modern-day strain. It's been a while since I had a truly excellent massage, and most therapists fall short. Mark stood out as one of the best I've had in years. He was extremely professional, communicative, and efficient. His hands found my problem areas and he focused on resolving them. I'd recommend booking him.
I get a massage every couple of weeks to maintain fitness for outdoor pursuits. On my first visit with Mark, he quickly identified how tight and sore my neck and shoulders were, and I can honestly say his work in those areas was the best I've ever had. Two days after the session and my neck still feels significantly better. He's a skilled massage therapist.
After two sessions with Mark, I can confirm that his massage work is highly targeted and intuitive. In my first 90-minute session, he cared for problem areas while staying thorough. In my second two-hour session, he noticed where tension was deepest and communicated before spending extra time on those zones. He recommended cupping at the end, which I'd never tried and found very therapeutic. A longer session with Mark allows the time needed for deep, personalized massage and stretching. His private studio feels welcoming and comfortable, and his combination of techniques—massage, stretch, cupping—creates a well-rounded experience that is both relaxing and energizing. I look forward to ongoing sessions to manage tightness from strength training.
Today I had one of the best massages from Mark. He is intuitive and pinpointed all my trouble spots. Mark also provided stretching exercises to help prevent recurring back issues. I will book another appointment when I visit again.
Mark is a true professional with warm hands and an equally warm demeanor. He brings an invigorating touch and pinpoints problem areas with precise, focused skill. Schedule him for a first-rate therapeutic massage.
Mark Thomas clearly knows what he's doing. It's refreshing to work with a massage therapist who can deliver real deep work, and he's a genuinely nice person too. Thanks for a great 90-minute session.

FAQ
What is CranioSacral Therapy and how does it work?
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle hands-on technique that works with the fluid surrounding your brain and spinal cord to release tension and support nervous system regulation. Mark uses light touch to detect and ease restrictions, which many clients find deeply calming and helpful for stress, headaches, or general tension held in the body.
How much does deep tissue massage cost in Phoenix?
Deep tissue massage with Mark starts at $125 for 60 minutes in his Phoenix studio. Longer sessions—75 minutes ($150), 90 minutes ($175), or 120 minutes ($250)—allow more time for targeted work on chronic tension or problem areas.
Do you offer mobile massage in Phoenix?
Yes, Mark offers mobile massage throughout Phoenix and surrounding areas at the same rates as studio sessions. He'll come to your home to deliver spa-quality bodywork in a space where you're already comfortable.
What's the best massage for sciatica or lower back pain?
Deep tissue, trigger point, and assisted stretching are often most effective for sciatica and lower back pain because they address the muscle and connective tissue restrictions driving the nerve irritation. Mark combines these techniques intuitively based on what he feels in your body and will discuss what's working as you go.
Is there a discount for first-time clients in Phoenix?
Yes, Mark offers discounts for first-time clients and students. Contact him directly to ask about the current promotion and find a time that works for you.
How long should my first massage session be?
Most clients benefit from at least 90 minutes for their first session, especially if you have chronic tension or specific problem areas. This gives Mark time to assess your body, address multiple areas, and include stretching or other modalities without feeling rushed. You can always book shorter sessions later if you prefer.
What hours is the studio open in Phoenix?
Mark's Phoenix studio is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day of the week, which makes it easy to find a time that fits your schedule.
